Abstract

The research data documents Louis Hutchins' participation in United States Navy Buoy Fouling Survey, 1943-1947. Includes descriptions of buoy locations, headed with alpha-number designation (V1 - V12) detailing location, length of time in place, water depth, depth of fouling, type, mooring type, extent and content of fouling, sometimes broken down about length of buoy structure. It lists depth of samples, thickness, weight, weight of water, volume of water, and description of fouling with listing of genus or common names of fouling life forms. Locations include the vicinity of Cape Lookout, North Carolina. |Includes a data table for Z1 to Z9, listing buoy, dates, mo., depth, measurements and data on buoy, chain, and mooring for locations in Hana Bay, Nawiliwili Harbor, Ahukini, and Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
