Abstract

The catalog and hand drawn map document field work of Henry Cushier Raven in Africa, September 1919 - August 1920. Pages are numbered. Includes field numbers (3578 - 4274), USNM catalog number (non consecutive), type (scientific name), sex, locality, date, 3 measurements, and notes. Notes cover a variety of types of information relating to specimen preparation (including a sketch); physical appearance; habitat description; collecting method; or description of locations, some extensive (i.e. Nyanza on Lake Tanganyika); or presence of embryo. Locations include Ottoshoop, Transvaal, South Africa; Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe; Kafue, Northern Rhodesia [Zambia]; Masinda (country unidentified); Budongo Forest, Uganda. The map indicates route through southern Africa and British East Africa.
