Abstract

This field book was kept by Mrs. William Owen and includes narrative field notes on botanical collections in Guatemala. Entries describe plants collected, including physical appearance (color, size, shape, etc.), and ways the native population uses the plants. Both "Indian" names and Spanish names are included with entries, some with literal English translations. Collector numbers 1 through 17a are included. Occasionally included are references to habitat, altitude collected, and other collecting conditions. No specific localities are mentioned. Collections were made between February and April, but no years are indicated.
