Abstract

The research data documents Louis Hutchins' participation in United States Navy Buoy Fouling Survey, 1943-1947. Includes descriptions of buoy locations, headed alpha-number designation (G0 - G23) detailing location, length of time in place, water depth, depth of fouling, type, mooring type, extent and content of fouling. Data comes in two formats. The first lists depth of samples, thickness, weight, weight of water, volume of water, and description of fouling with listing of genus or common names of fouling fauna. The second includes mussel samples from buoys, listed in lettered (C1 - C35) series and headed with buoy number and list sample number, length, width, height, number, and averages. Some list totals for quantity of mussels. Locations include coast of Key West, Turtle Harbor, New River, Everglades, Cape Canaveral, Florida.
