Abstract

Catalog of birds collected for the US National Museum in Liberia by Currie from 12 February to 1 April 1892. 31 specimens are listed with their sex, common names, remarks on quantities or abundance or environment of bird, date collected, and locality collected. Localities include several spots on Mount Coffee. Also are color illustrations of specimens number 7-9, 16, and 28. The cover page for this catalog indicates that other sections for mammals, fishes, mollusks, marine invertebrates, reptiles and batrachians, and specimens illustrating protective mimicy were also collected and recorded. These other sections were removed and possibly sent to various departments. Mammal specimens can be found in the Division of Mammals field books for Currie, SIA Acc. 12-234 and collection record NCDC217 in this database.
