Abstract

Alexander Wetmore travels to Panama in 1956 to visit the Canal Zone Biological Area, and collect bird specimens in the Canal Zone and on Isla Coiba. Materials include correspondence, list of supplies, film notes, travel notes, news clippings, expense records, basic hand drawn map, and memorabilia. Correspondence (in English and Spanish) covers his travel plans, introductions, the work of Field and Marvin Keenan on ecto-parasites, ongoing business of the Smithsonian, work he did for the Malaria Control Force of the U.S. Army, includes Correspondents include John Enos Graf, A. Remington Kellogg, James Zetek, and Margaret Wetmore Harlan.
