The color illustration may have been created in the field by James G. Swan, documenting a specimen of cyanura stelleri (Steller Jay) collected at Webster Point, Nieah Bay, November 1861. Attending notes include common name, location information, measurements, and additional descriptions relating to appearance and color. The illustration is signed and dated.
