Abstract

This folder contains several letters written by Bowdish to Charles W. Richmond of the Smithsonian Institution, dated 1 June 1900 to 9 April 1902. In Bowdish's first letter, he tells Richmond that they will not sell the Smithsonian his specimens, but may have them and copies of his field notes. (It is possible field notes within the Smithsonian collection of Bowdish's field notes are copies the creator made himself.) Subsequent letters discuss specimens Bowdish collected in Aguadilla, Mayaguey, Desecheo, Vieques, and San Juan and donated to the Smithsonian. Letters also include additional notes on these specimens and stomach contents.
