Abstract

The loose sheets of paper include cut and pasted segments of specimen descriptions from collecting efforts in Yukon, Alaska, 1861. The work mostly like that of J. Lockhart (collector of field number 527, possibly same as USNM B 9038), as noted in top corner of first page. Most specimens are eggs. Specimen descriptions include field number, scientific name, specimen number, specimen descriptions (including quantity), and descriptions of varying types of content including discussion of population abundance in area, accuracy of identification, habitat and vegetation, source of collecting if from another party (local inhabitants), date, sex, collecting method, nest construction. Information includes pasted description ordered by field number, then lists of specimen type followed by corresponding specimen number (may be field number). Notes indicate some specimens may have been collected by Robert Kennicott.
