Abstract

The journal documents Florence Merriam Bailey's field work in Bermuda, March 13 - 31, 1890. Lists members of the travel party, most only with initials, except for Louise A Husted. Includes pinned botanical specimens and descriptions. Entries are headed with date, and detail travel, descriptions of locations seen enroute, marine life seen aboard vessel (including phosphorescent life forms in the vessel's wake), weather, daily activities, accommodations, descriptions of plants including color, collecting in waters, sketches of apparatus, and notes about observations and interactions with local inhabitants.
