Abstract

Materials include a proposed plan for research, memoranda, cooperative research agreement with Purdue University, correspondence, news clippings, publications, and report documenting research and field work on sea otter populations in Alaska. The report by Ford Wilke (Branch of Wildlife Research) discusses proposed research at Amchitka Island, relating to population reintroduction, reproduction, and research into mortality factors and parasites affecting the populations. This includes descriptions of populations and their behavior, food habits, and habitats. Additionally, it discusses captive populations in Woodland Park Zoo, Seattle, Washington. Includes photographs of captive otters. Correspondence and memoranda discuss conditions (weather, observations, collecting specimens) in the field. The report documents the field work, July 27 - October 5, 1955, written by Karl W. Kenyon.
