Abstract

Volume containing a record of egg collections made by Bendire or under his direction. Contains scientific name of species, description of egg, freshness, locality collected, person collected by, date (although note for all specimens), and “Smithsonian number”, possibly referring the USNM catalog number. Species from the same genera are listed together but there does not seem to be any other discernible order the the listing. Dates of collections recorded in this volume range from approximately 1865 to 1885. Localities include but are not limited to Arizona, Oregon, Montana, Washington Territory, and California. Also includes list pasted into cover verso “list of duplicates sent by Capt. Bendire”.
