Abstract

Materials document an aerial survey of walruses conducted over portions of the Bering Sea, March - April 1961, for the US Atomic Energy Commission; and Pacific Walrus Studies for the Bureau of Sport Fisheries and Wildlife. Materials include a trip report delineating purpose, itinerary, results, project chariot participation, consultation; copy of marine mammals bill H.R. 777; telegrams discussing progress; memorandum about sea otters and a tagging program; and travel authorization. Materials on Pacific Walrus Studies for the Bureau of Sport Fisheries and Wildlife relate trip specifics (staffing, procedures, location, work schedule). There are also news bulletins from the Alaska Conservation Society, 1961. Indicates the participation of Alaska Department of Fish and Game. Correspondents include Karl W. Kenyon, Bureau of Sport Fisheries and Wildlife; John N. Wolfe, US Atomic Energy Commission.
