Abstract

This field book includes the field notes of Joseph Nelson Rose from 1893 to 1904, in four sections. The first section includes narrative field notes from 1893 in Yellowstone National Park, and possibly other locations. Entries include descriptions of locations, collecting activities, and lists of plants observed. The second section includes plants cultivated by Rose, 1903 to 1904. Entries list: numbers (C1 to C25); scientific name; and notes on where the specimen was sent from. The third section includes a list of plants collected in Texas, Colorado, Switzerland, Italy, Mexico and New Mexico, 1903-1904. This list includes numbers 701 through 12,000. The fourth section includes a plant list of specimens collected in Arizona, Mexico, California, and several other locations in the United States and South America, 1899-1903. This list includes numbers 1 through 700.
