Abstract

Paper on descriptions of recent Pelicans with descriptions of new genera and species. Information on new speceis of Pelecanus and the new genera Neopelecanus and Pseudopelecanus are included. Also included is a letter from Mearns to Leonhard Stejneger, Head Curator of Biology, regarding this manuscript : "I have the honor to transmit herewith the manuscript of a paper entitled 'A Study of the recent Pelicans, with descriptions of new Genera and Species,' with the request that it be published in the Smithsonian Miscellaneous Collections." The manuscript is undated, so the date for this item is the date of Mearns's correspondence with Stejneger, 21 February 1916.
