Abstract

This is volume one of list of birds Mearns collected for the Childs Frick Expedition to Africa, volume I, 22 November 1911 to 3 June 1912. Collector numbers 19401 to 22060 are included. Sometimes Mearns's descriptions include physical descriptions of specimens including color and occasionally the behavior of the bird and how common it is. Localities include but are not limited to Djibouti, Dire Daoua (currently Dirē Dawa), Adis Ababa (Ādīs Āben), Sadi Walka, Hawash (Awash) River, Gato River, Arussi Platau, and Aleta.
