Abstract

The field book documents Edgar A. Mearns' field work in California, 1894. Entries are dated and headed location. Pages are numbered. Entries discuss travel details, locations (including names of ranches visited), descriptions of terrain, vegetation, flora and fauna observed. This includes lists of fauna observed with information about population abundance, sometimes on habitat. There descriptions can be extensive.
