Abstract

The field book documents John Alden Loring's participation, April 28 - March 21, 1910, in the Smithsonian- Roosevelt African Expedition, 1909 - 1910. The notebook starts with a sketch of a mammal with notes relating to types of measurements recorded. Information includes USNM catalog number (non consecutive), field number, type (common or scientific name), locality, date, measurements, and notes. Notes usually relate to habitat, presences of fetuses, or preparation. Locations are through out British East Africa including Kapiti plains [Ilkaputiei].
