The specimen list and field notes document David H. Johnson's collecting in Pennsylvania, Canada, July 12 - October 12, 1947. Information includes field number, USNM catalog number (nonconsecutive), sex, type (scientific name), locality (date, county, town, elevation), date, measurements (4 types), and notes. Notes are usually relating to habitat or addition location information. The field notes contain dated journal entries. Pages are numbered. They are headed with location, and describe travel details (destinations, travel times, methods), collecting methods including types of traps, specimens collected (type, quantity, sex) and their habitats, observed vegetation and terrain, daily work and times of day, and interactions with colleagues. Notes on Fort Chimo include many details about general life at the fort as well as notes on the forest, a hand drawn map of the area around Koksoak River, staffing of the fort (including names and descriptions), descriptions of the pontoon planes in the area, area trading, and "Eskimos" residing in the area. Locations include Frobisher Bay, Baffin island,Goose Bay, Labrador and Ungava, Quebec in Canada as well as Bethel in Berks county, Pennsylvania.
