Abstract

The black-and-white photographs document Bohumil Shimek's field work in Nebraska and Iowa, 1907-1909. Most photographs are labeled and dated. Subject matter includes detail and distance images of terrain, cuts in terrain, a railroad pit and tracks, woods, pre-Kansan exposures, along roads, loess exposures with eroded root systems, and residential structures. Some photographs include explanatory sketches on the reverse side, and are stamped with "Iowa Geological Survey." Locations include Florence, Nebraska; Council Bluffs, Brenner county, Butler county, Harlan county, Harrison county, Iowa.
