Abstract

The black-and-white photographs document Bohumil Shimek's field work in Iowa, Nebraska, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Arkansas, 1906 - 1908. Most photographs are labeled and dated; some include notations. Subject matter includes detail images of loess, cuts into terrain with exposed roots, band of broken shells in a cut, agricultural fields, terrain near rivers, and railroad tracks. Locations include Bellevue, Farley, Hamburg, Muscatine, Scott county, Iowa; Helena, Arkansas; Bridgeport, Wisconsin; Galena, Illinois; Abie, Seward, Nebraska.
