Abstract

This is one of four notebooks containing lists of insect specimens collected in California. Specimens in this notebook were collected by various persons working for the Division of Cereal and Forage Insects, Bureau of Entomology, United States Department of Agriculture, between approximately 1913 and 1920. Entries include the scientific name of the specimen, date collected, locality collected, remarks, collector initials or name, and a number. Numbers range from 181 to 192966. These numbers seem to represent series in which the first two digits are a prefix indicating the series or collection number. For example, the numbers 181 to 18100, indicates 18 is a prefix, and the specimens are then listed in numerical order from 1-100. Localities include but are not limited to Lone Pine, Berkeley, Hayward, Tracy, Birds Landing, Niles, and Altamont. Collectors include "TDU", "CMP", "MCC", and "AHH".
