Abstract

The journal documents Edmund Heller's field work, July 13 - August 10 (year not listed), for the National Geographic Society Yale University Peruvian Expedition, 1915. information is entered from the front and back of the notebook. Entries are dated. They describe weather, participants and staff, travel details (destinations, trails taken), daily work with times of day, specimens collected (sex, type, quantity), collecting methods, flora and fauna observed, and terrain. Entries also include elevations. Information beginning at the back of the notebook includes a list of specimen numbers and data, then divided subject (birds, mammals, reptiles) and subdivided by location. These lists include notes about abundance and habitat where collected. There are a significant number of notations / edits in red through out the journal. Locations include Yuvini, Occabamba Pass, Tocopoqeuyu, Uvini (Rio Cosireni).
