The journal documents Edmund Heller's field work in California (undated) possibly in conjunction with his job as a faunal naturalist for the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago from 1901 to 1907. Entries include numbered, specimen lists per location, by type of mammals, reptiles, and vegetation. Information includes type, abundance, habitat, terrain, and vegetation.
