Abstract

The black-and-white photographs document Bohumil Shimek's field work. Some photographs include labels. Subject matter includes farmland; terrain (dunes, loess), lumber packed for rail transport; forest along railroad in Sacramento Mountains, New Mexico; vegetation (cacti, trees); geological formations in arid terrain; and geological, shell, and plant specimens. Second envelope is mostly geological formations photographed and identified on the reverse side. Locations include but are not limited to Granite, Iowa; Saint Joseph, Missouri; New Mexico.
