Abstract

The black-and-white photographs and postcards document Bohumil Shimek's field work. Some photographs include labels. Often they are undated. May be the product of multiple creators. Subject matter includes geological formations with denoted drifts (Aftonian, Kansan, Nebraskan); bluffs with vegetation and exposed roots; terrain (along railroad tracks, hillsides); site of excavation; trees; and geological and plant (fungi) specimens. Some have plate and figure numbers marked on the reverse side, and may have been used in publications. Locations include but are not limited to Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Council Bluffs, Missouri Valley, Iowa; Florence, Nebraska.
