Abstract

The black-and-white photographs and postcards document Bohumil Shimek's field work. Some photographs include labels, sometimes numbers, and additional location information such as geographical landmarks (names of valleys). Often they are undated. May be the product of multiple creators. Subject matter includes flowering plants, loess and terrain (prairie, agricultural fields, ridges, bluffs), lakeside laboratory at Okoboji, inland bodies of water, plant specimens, and structures. Locations include but are not limited to the vicinity of Amana, Okoboji, Hamburg, Homestead, Iowa; Minnesota.
