Abstract

The black-and-white photographs and postcards document Bohumil Shimek's field work. Photographs are often unlabeled, and undated. Subject matter includes structures, shore along a body of water in Lynxville, Wisconsin; colleagues; possible social gathering of unidentified people in the woods; vegetation (trees, trunks, and fungi); terrain (bluffs, dunes, agricultural fields); possible images from his time in eastern Europe; and magnified images of specimens. Includes mounted photographs of trees. Photographs may be the product of multiple creators. Locations include but are not limited to Missouri Valley, Muscatine county, Okoboji, Council Bluffs, Iowa; Nag's Head, North Carolina; Lynxville, Wisconsin; Manitoba, Canada.
