This item is not a field book, but rather compiled by Mearns from various field notes on birds collected in the Philippines and other localities from 1903 to 1904. Each sheet contains the name of a species, under which collections of that species are listed. For these, Mearns includes catalog number (USNM number), collector number, locality, date, often who shot the specimen, and sometimes additional notes. Entries are not in alphabetical, chronological, or numerical (by catalog number) order. Range of catalog numbers is approximately 190150 to 192383. Localities covered include but are not limited to Bolod Island, Mindanao, Sulu Island (currently Jolo Island), Luzon Island, and Guam.
