Abstract

Mearns's dispatch book includes original and carbon copies of diary like dispatches about the war, bird collecting, other animals observed, and other observations from 18 April to 19 May 1904 in the Philippines. Collector numbers range from approximately 13343-13360. Collector number 5655 (mammal) is also included. Localities include but are not limited to Bacuag, "Lake Sapongan", Baganga River, and Tubay River. Mearns notes that he also collects shells, plants, and rocks during this period. A brief report from Roy H. Gearhart in Bohol is inserted into the book. Some sketches of ethnological and other observations are included.
