Abstract

Field book and the 2 maps document field work of an expedition in Galapagos Islands [Archipélago de Colón], possibly 1898 - 1899. May be the journal of Edmund Heller. The journal is dated October 30 - January. Pages are numbered. Entries are dated and describe daily work with times of day, travel, weather, birds observed aboard ship, descriptions of island terrain, hand drawn maps with elevations and other notations, geological sections, vegetation, specimens collected (method, stomach contents), relates stories from captain about sealers on the islands, fish observed, and anchorages. Locations include Guadalupe island, Clipperton Island, and Wenman Island.
