Abstract

This field book is volume 1 of 6 volumes. This volume contains notes on birds Mearns collected in the Philippines from 29 September to 19 October 1906. Collector numbers for birds are 14354 to 14426. Localities include but are not limited to Bucas Island (Bucas Grande Island?), Cateel River, Palmas Island (currently in Indonesia and known as Palau Miangas), Siasi Island, and Loran Island (Doran Island). Notes on mammals, some shells, and reptiles observed or collected are included, but no specimen numbers are given. Following the last entry is an itinerary. Following the itinerary are additional notes on specimens (including some measurements) and a feather. Field book starts with a list of “Samar birds not collected” and other notes on Samar birds.
