Abstract

The 8 photographs document geological and botanical observations of Bohumil Shimek while in Iowa. Photographs are undated and are grouped by number. They are individually numbered and include typed descriptions listing a combination of location, type of formation, and type of plants. Subject matter includes vistas and detail images of terrain near railroad tracks, loess (bluffs, slopes), woods, prairie, vegetation (bur-oaks), and agricultural fields. Locations include the vicinity of Loveland and Council Bluffs.
