Abstract

This field book contains Mearns daily notes regarding his travels and field research on birds from 17 to 29 May 1904. No collectors numbers are included. Localities in which birds were observed and collected include Rio Grande (also known as Mindanao River), Tubay River, Lake Liguasan, and Buluan (Lake and River). Some bird notes include measurements. Brief notes on sightings of other specimens such as fish, monkeys, bats, and crocodiles, are also included. Also included are itineraries, sketch of water lily, and a list of soldiers killed at Simpitan by Datto Ali's army, May 25, 1904.
