The field catalog documents seal skulls collected and includes specimen number, type, sex, age, date collected (January 21 - 30, 1940), and additional unidentified information. Most of the note book is blank. The second notebook details observations of seals and specimen collecting at East Base, March 29 - November 2, 1940. First entries are headed with date and describe specimens caught, short descriptions of weather, temperature, collecting activities. The last page includes more a detailed description of crab eater seals.
