Abstract

The 9 photographs document geological and botanical observations of Bohumil Shimek while in Iowa and South Dakota. Photographs are undated and are grouped by number. They are individually numbered and include typed descriptions listing a combination of location, type of formation, and type of plants. Subject matter includes vistas and detail images of vegetation (bur-oaks, genus quercus), and vistas of terrain (hills, ridges, prairie, bluffs, woods). Locations include Granite, Iowa City, Klondike, Lyon county, Iowa; Canton, South Dakota.
