Abstract

This bound volume contains field notes and a report of Louis Forniquet Henderson from a collecting trip to the central and eastern regions of Idaho in 1895. The first part of the volume contains Henderson's field notes and a list of plants he collected on the trip. The field notes are narrative in nature, and provide detailed documentation of the trip including the locations visited, notes on weather, observations of vegetation, and some observations of birds. Localities include Moscow, Mt. Idaho, Idaho County, Grangeville, Willow Creek, Hailey, Ketchum, Petit Lake, Challis, Salmon River, Salmon River Mountains, Lost River Mountains, Pass Creek, and Mill Creek, among others. The list of plants collected include collector numbers (3000 to 4073) and scientific name. Some entries are annotated or crossed out. The second part of the volume contains a report manuscript from November 1895 on the botany and forest conditions of the central and eastern regions of Idaho. The report was submitted to Frederick N. Coville, Esq., Botanist at the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
