Abstract

This notebook contains field notes from Bean's trip to Cape Vincent in New York (June 21 to 25, 1894) and the Florida Keys (November 16 to December 16, 1906) to collect fish for the National Museum of Natural History Division of Fishes. Notes from his trip to Cape Vincent included mostly terse descriptions and specimen lists for fish collected in Cape Vincent, Three Mile Bay, Kingston (Ontario, Canada) and perhaps other locations nearby. Notes from the Florida Keys provide more narrative notes which often include remarks on the weather and air temperatures and playful descriptions of catching fish. Bean visits many locations within the Florida Keys, some of which are Broad Creek, Biscayne Bay, Tavernier Creek, Bahia Honda, and Sawyers Key Channel.
