Information from the Vema 14 cruise from New York to Buenos Aires November 1957-August 1958, during which plankton samples were gathered. This item records the collection of 296 samples from 212 stations and covers station numbers 1/S-212-S. The first station recorded, station 1/S, is at 38-03 N, 70-48 W off the shore of New Jersey. The crew then sails south along the coast of South America, eventually heading east across the Atlantic, then north again up the east side of Africa. They sail through the Mediterranean Sea. The ending coordinates are 36-02.6N, 05-16W, which is in the Alboran Sea. Included is a summary of data from each station. Also included are logs detailing each haul. Logs record the following types of information: cruise number, station number, coordinates, date, median local time, type of tow [typographic error "type of two" in the item], net it, net out, length of tow [typo error "two"], current meter reading, wire angle, corrected depth, displacement vol., corrected displ. vol, vol. H20 filtered, length of wire out, time, sky condition, sea condition, surface temperature, BT slide number, BT serial number, Hansen Hydro Station number, number of samples, max. depth, core number, comments, observer (name). Sheets signed what looks like "Peter Trummil".
