Abstract

This field book contains notes from western United States (including Minnesota, Montana, Washington, Oregon, and California) and the Philippine Islands, 7 December 1902 to 3 November 1903. These notes contain observation data on birds and mammals by Mearns as he headed to the west coast and then on to the Philippines. Bird and mammal notes remark on where the specimen was seen, and on abundance. Word lists in the “moro” and “ma’-nay” languages are included. A sketch of Mount Baker (Oregon?) is also included. Localities include, but are not limited to Yellowstone, Fort Snelling (MN), Spokane (WA), Portland (OR), San Francisco (CA), and Baganga and Malabon in the Philippines.
