Abstract

This item contains cruise data from cruises Caldrill (April 20 to May 14, 1965), Evergreen (August 1-8, 1959), Charlie (December 11 to 31, 1959), Crawford (February 25 to March 1, 1959), Goldberger (November 11 1961), Grace (December 10-11 1960), and Sir Horace Lamb (June 26-29, 1968). Instructional materials for plankton sampling is included in some of the cruises. Also includes data sheet from April 12, 1960 for Mendota cruise. The bulk of the collection consists of data sheets recording the following information: "opening and closing plankton tows", "Nansen bottles", ship and cruise no., station no., sample number, total no. samples, coordinates, date, local time, tow type, net in, net out, length of tow, wire angle at max depth, flowmeter reading, corrected depth range, flowmeter no., displacement vol., flowmeter calibration factor, corrected displ. vol., vol. H20 filtered, wire angle information, sky condition, sea condition, surface water temperature, BT slide data, BT temperatures, surface salinity, core no., comments (successful? If not why?), observer name. Some time-depth recorders (Benthos, Inc.) approximately 3 inches in diameter are included, as well as some graphs and other supporting data.
