Abstract

The 8 photographs document geological and botanical observations of Bohumil Shimek while in North Dakota, Nebraska, and Illinois. Photographs are undated and are grouped by number. They are individually numbered and include typed descriptions listing a combination of location, type of formation, and type of plants. Subject matter includes sand dunes, vegetation (elms, grasses, genus celtis, prunus), roots exposed by erosion, sand hills (North Platte, Nebraska), old dunes now covered in vegetation (Nebraska, Illinois). Locations include Lidgerwood, North Dakota; West Point, Nebraska; and Gladstone, Illinois.
