Abstract

The 8 photographs document geological and botanical observations of Bohumil Shimek while in California and Arizona, c. 1903-1907. Photographs are undated and are grouped by number. They are individually numbered and include typed descriptions listing a combination of location, type of formation, and type of plants. Subject matter includes cacti (cereus), rocky slopes in desert, and other types vegetation (ephedra). Locations include Tucson, Arizona; Palm Springs desert (San Jacinto mountains), California.
