Abstract

In 1922 Alexander Wetmore went to South Carolina to investigate the possible use of Buzzard Island as a federal bird reservation, while working for the U.S. Department Agriculture, Bureau of Biological Survey. Includes field notes, 18-19 July 1922, correspondence, reports, maps, and an expense book. Report includes a list of birds observed in the vicinity. Notes include bird lists for Beaufort and vegetation and bird lists for Buzzard's Island. Maps are oversized and show the areas of of Bull and Combahee Rivers, Hunting Island, and Ossabaw Island.
