Abstract

Heinrich records his trip to inspect mostly corn, sugar cane, and coffee for damage cause by Diatraea or other plant pest insect. The field notes are arranged by date, and contain journal style entries. Details include descriptions of daily activities; persons met with (a brief passenger list for the ship on which Heinrich sails is included); cities and sites visited; farms and crops inspected; weather; crop conditions; and observed insect damage. He specifies visits to areas surrounding of Guatemala City, Ciudad Vieja, the eastern shore of Atitlán, and Antigua.
