Abstract

This field notebook contains mainly notes from Mearns's trip from Fort Snelling, Minnesota, to Camp Douglas, Wisconsin, in 1891. These notes include bird, mammal and mollusk lists of specimens collected between 10 July and 25 September 1891. Collector numbers include 7471 to 7483 (birds), 1276 to 1289 (mammals), and 108 to 121 (mollusks) (mostly unio). Also includes "Probable camping places" and "actual camping places", listing dates and camps 8-22 July. Also included are "nests and eggs", collector numbers 523 to 1012, and "plants found at Camp Douglas, Wisconsin" (four listed). Miscellaneous data on Arizona and New Mexico birds, including list of birds of "Chochise County" (currently Cochise County), Arizona, in the collection of Col. R. F. Hafford is also included.
