Abstract

This diary contains notes on Carriker's collecting trip to Peru to collect birds and possibly other types of specimens from 25 March to 31 December 1933 possibly for the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia. Starting from the beginning of this journal, supplementary notes from 16 April-13 December 1933 are included. Notes discuss quanities, abundance, and scarcity of specimens, and also describes current or recent events in the area, and details of his natural and man made surroundings. Carriker travels to many places within Peru; localities include but are not limited to "Samme" (Samne), Cajabamba, Olmas, and Tamborapa. For dates without entries Carriker often includes at minimum his location. Notes possibly relate to images Carriker took in Peru, 1931, 1933, and 1934, housed in Box 2 Folder 51 of this collection.
