Abstract

Two collections of loose pages document Wetmore's observations and collecting efforts in South America, 1920-1921, while working for the U.S. Department Agriculture , Bureau of Biological Survey. He was investigating the distribution of life zones of North American migratory birds in southern South America. First collection of notes are chronological, listing date, and location when applicable, and is dated January - March 11, 1921. Entries include bird lists with sexes and quantity, journal-style entries, names and contact information for colleagues in South America; and a list of film. Second set of notes includes contacts and addresses, bird counts (sometimes with time of day or sex, and common name), details of materials used, journal style entries of observations, lists of film, sometimes coordinates; and is dated 1920 - 1921. Dates are not consecutive, appears order has been disrupted. Locations are listed to city name, but unfortunately does not consistently indicate country. Some locations are not legible. Locations include vicinity of Peru, Argentina, and Chile.
