Abstract

An inserted table of contents contains a full listing of localities and corresponding collector numbers. This field book contains a specimen list of botanical specimens collected by F. R. Fosberg from 30 September 1961 to 26 June 1962 in Virginia, Maryland, District of Columbia, Delaware, and West Virginia. Collector numbers 42181-42511 are included. Specimen list includes scientific name, date, locality, collector number, with occasional notes on locality or physical descriptions of specimens (size, color, etc.) Some longer narrative notes describe the vegetation in various localities. Localities include but are not limited to: Shenandoah National Park, Charlottesville, Farifax County, Rockingham County, Fauquier County (Virginia); Montgomery County, Anne Arundel County, Calvert County (Maryland); Hampshire City (West Virginia); Rehobeth (Delaware); and Washington (District of Columbia). Travel notes are also included for New Jersey, Colorado, Kansas, Illinois, and Tennessee. In the front of the field book is a letter to Fosberg from Jocelyn Alexander.
