Abstract

This item contains cruise data from three different Coast Guard Cutter vessels Humboldt (August 21, 1960 to June 19, 1963), Ingham (December 20, 1961 to May 30, 1963), and McCulloch (May 16, 1961 to October 16, 1963). Data from the cruises covers plankton sampling in the North Atlantic Ocean near the mid-Altantic, New England United States, and Canada and near the Labrador Sea. The bulk of the collection consists of data sheets recording the following information: "opening and closing plankton tows", "Nansen bottles", ship and cruise no., station no., sample number, total no. samples, coordinates, date, local time, tow type, net in, net out, length of tow, wire angle at max depth, flowmeter reading, corrected depth range, flowmeter no., displacement vol., flowmeter calibration factor, corrected displ. vol., vol. H20 filtered, wire angle information, sky condition, sea condition, surface water temperature, BT slide data, BT temperatures, surface salinity, core no., comments (successful? If not why?), observer name.
